How We Got Here

Our 2021-2025 Strategic Framework and Plans set City Colleges of Chicago on the path to being recognized as the city’s most accessible higher education engine of socioeconomic mobility and racial equity – empowering all Chicagoans to take part in building a stronger and more just city.

Over the last five years, we have learned what works. Increased enrollment and student outcomes, expanded student supports, growing high-demand programs, and strong relationships with our partners at CPS, transfer universities, employers, philanthropy, and community.

The 2026-2030 Strategic Plan builds on the work we’ve done, setting bold goals and scaling initiatives that work. It is informed by data, research, and conversations with a wide range of stakeholders – both internal and external.
